Dawon’s Pre-Debut
Nam Dawon who we know as Dawon was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She was born on April 16, 1997, making her an Aries, and she has an Ox as a Chinese zodiac sign. Dawon is the youngest daughter in her family. She has an older sister named Nam Da-na. Before Dawon debuted as a member of Cosmic Girls, she joined the audition for a survival show called K-Pop Star Season 2, the same season as Akdong Musician. Dawon joined the competition in 2012 when she was only 15 years old in the international age or 16 years old in Korean age. She is the same age as the soloist Park Jimin or Jamie who joined season 1 of the survival show. It’s also known that she is friends with Jamie. However, she didn’t make it to the Top 10. Dawon’s Debut in Cosmic Girls
Dawon might have not made it into the K-pop Star Season 2 Top 10, but she did join as a trainee in Starship Entertainment and debuted with 11 other girls in Cosmic Girls or WJSN. On February 25, 2016, Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment debuted the new girl group called Cosmic Girls, also called 우주소녀 or Woojoo Seonnyeo, WJSN for short. That is the reason why sometimes we see people call them Cosmic Girls, the English name, or WJSN the Korean name. Cosmic Girls or WJSN debuted with the song called “Mo Mo Mo” on a mini-album called Would You Like. They performed their debut stage on M! Countdown on February 25, 2016. The members of the girl group consist of 13 pretty and talented girls from both Korea and China. Dawon is one of the nine members of Cosmic Girls that has Korean nationality.
