Rashid Latif (the better gloveman) and Moin Khan (the better batsman) fought for the Pakistan wicketkeeper’s slot throughout the 1990s. Eventually both had fair shares behind the stumps, and both went on to lead Pakistan. Moin played 69 Tests and 219 ODIs. He was chirpy and ebullient behind the stumps (shabash Saqi and shabash Mushy became synonymous with Pakistan bowling in the 1990s) , but it was with the bat that he grabbed more attention, making a mockery of conventional bowling and field placements with his outrageous strokeplay, sweeping and reverse-sweeping his way to glory even against fast bowlers. He scored four Test hundreds, every single one of which came under pressure. His pinnacle probably came in World Cup 1999, where he exploded down the order several times despite conditions that helped the seamers, the most outrageous knocks being a 12-ball 31 against Australia and a 56-ball 63 against South Africa. As expected, Moin scored the first Twenty20 hundred in Pakistan (a 59-ball 112 for Karachi Dolphins at Lahore in 2005). However, his chances of making a comeback to the national team ended with Kamran Akmal’s advent. Post retirement, Moin never gave up his association with the sport. He became Head Coach of Pakistan before becoming their Chief Selector. Moin Khan is a former professional Pakistani cricketer, who specialized in wicket keeping and batting. He played for Pakistan national cricket team from 1990 to 2004 and also captained the team. On 11 February 2014 Moin Khan was appointed as the head coach of the national team of Pakistan. Born and raised in Rawalpindi, Pakistan Moin made his Pakistani national cricket team debut in November 1990 in a series against the West Indies. He scored 23 runs on his debut ODI and 56 runs in both the innings of his first test match. Moin Khan was the wicketkeeper in the team during the 1992 Cricket World Cup win of Pakistan. In the semi-finals, when Pakistan needed nine runs from eight balls against New Zealand, Khan hit a six to make it three runs off seven balls, and then hit a boundary to help Pakistan win the match. Moin’s first major Test knock came against Australia at Lahore in 1994. Moin helped Pakistan to a reach a good total and he also scored his first Test century in that match. During a Test against Sri Lanka at Sialkot, Pakistan needed 357 runs to win the game. Moin scored unbeaten 117 runs as the rest of the batsmen failed to provide support and Pakistan lost the match by 144 runs. Moin has played for Karachi Dolphins in ABN-AMRO Twenty20 Cup he smashed 112 off 59 balls for his team and became first Pakistani cricket to score a century in T20 cricket. At end of the season, he retired from the first-class cricket after scoring 200 not out against Hyderabad. Moin played his last series against Sri Lanka in 2004. His last ODI was on 16 October 2004 against Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Usually a middle-order batsman, Moin opened the innings and scored 14 runs for his team. His last Test match was also against Sri Lanka and Moin failed to perform in that match he only scored 6 runs in both innings, as a result of which Sri Lanka won the match by 201 runs. He is currently working with Quetta Gladiators as head coach since PSL 2016. Former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan’s son Owais Khan entered the wedlock with Mariam Ansari, a popular actor in the Pakistan film industry. Ansari is a 24-year-old, who’s born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. But she moved to Pakistan when she was nine years old. She worked in theatres and acted in three films. Ansari has also featured in a number of television shows in the last seven years. She and Owais have been in a relationship for quite a while. The couple has been treating their fans and supporters with videos from their wedding on their Instagram stories. A number of celebrities, including Naveed Rana, Hania Aamir, and Faysal Qureshi were part of the big day. Interestingly, Aamir featured in the theme song of Peshawar Zalmi for the 2020 Pakistan Super League. Going by reports in ARY News, the nikkah took place in Karachi over the weekend, but the baraat and valima are scheduled to take place for December 2021. He wrote, “Welcome to the Khan family Mariam.” Moin Khan, during his playing days, was known as one of the chirpiest cricketers behind the stumps for Pakistan. He used to ace the batsmen and motivated his bowlers to get wickets. He was a busy as a batsman as well and hardly turned down chances of getting singles and doubles, thereby rotating the strike. In his career, he played 69 Tests and 219 ODIs. In those matches, he amassed over 6,000 runs with four tons and 27 half-centuries to show for his efforts. Khan also played five T20s in his short career in the format. His last international match was against India way back in 2004 in the Faisalabad Test. He last played any form of cricket back in 2015 for the Sachin’s Blasters against Warne’s Warriors in Los Angeles. In the meantime, Azam Khan, another of Moin’s children, is busy finding his feet at the highest level. He was a part of Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2020 and recently played for Galle Gladiators in the 2020 Lanka Premier League where his father was the head coach.
