Debut with Fly to the Sky
Hwanhee debuted with Brian Joo in a duet group called Fly to the Sky in 1999. Their first album Day by Day was a hit, the album managed to sell more than 250.000 copies. The duet’s popularity was increasing year by year, however, sadly, in 2002 Brian Joo decided to attend university in New Jersey, leaving Hwanhee promoting their third album Sea of Love alone. Starting from their third album, Fly to the Sky changing their music genre from bubblegum pop into R&B. With these albums, they have won some music awards. Although there were some controversies among the award shows regarding the nominee and the winner at that time. In 2005, Fly to the Sky ended their contract with SM Entertainment. After ending the contract with SM Entertainment, Fly to the Sky went to PFull Entertainment and released their sixth album which sold more than 160.000 copies. Acting Career
With a handsome face like his, also his deep voice, Hwanhee is a pretty popular actor. Ever since he ended the contract with SM Entertainment, Hwanhee started maneuvering his other skills. He has played two roles in movies, also three dramas and most of the time he makes appearances on tv shows. Below is a footage of one of the tv shows he took part in with another singer, Hwayoubi.
Hwanhee and Hwayobi in We Got Married
This couple is hilarious, Hwayobi is trying her hardest to make a romantic situation with her husband. Alas, Hwanhee is brutally honest with her and it makes the show really funny. They were in this show for a pretty long time, since episode 25 and then from episode 29 to episode 44. You definitely should watch their episodes; they are funny and will let you learn more about Hwanhee himself.
Solo Career
After an argument with his duet partner, Hwanhee decided to pursue a solo career in 2009. He signed a contract with KEYEAST. He started from scratch again with his solo activity and successfully held a concert with 2.000 people in Japan. Unfortunately, there was a problem with his voice, he took a rest for five months and then came back with a song titled “Foolish Heart.”
Military Service
Hwanhee enlisted for military duty on December 27th, 2011. Before taking his duty, Hwanhee had been busy with his boy band called MYNAME. The band debuted in 2011 under the label H2 with the name Hwanhee Boys but then changed it into MYNAME. It consists of five members all of whom he has been doing vocal training. Hwanhee went on duty for 23 months but he trained for 4 months before going on duty. In his online fan cafe, Hwanhee sent a message to the fans telling them to wait for him and he promised that he will become more mature and a better man after this. Isn’t he adorable?
Relationship with Bandmate Brian Joo
In one of the interviews, Brian Joo said that he was often underappreciated and shadowed by Hwanhee’s talent. They are so close to each other that some people have even thought they were in a relationship. Apparently, their relationship is such that it may seem like they are actually a couple. Their attachment was a source of jealousy for Brian who thought he was not good enough for the company. At that time, Hwanhee was angry as to why would Brian think that he was underappreciated. The two of them decided to take a hiatus and focus on their own activities until their latest comeback in 2018.
Fly to the Sky’s Latest Comeback
After their hiatus, Fly to the Sky made a comeback with their third mini-album titled I. In the picture we can see that they are now more mature and manly. There are a total of 6 tracks in the album and it includes two instrumental versions from the songs.

Hwanhee is currently busy collaborating with his duet partner Brian Joo and his boy band MYNAME. He is also busy promoting his latest digital single.
